Towards the end of last year, Sunreef Yachts, the Polish shipyard specialising in the design and construction of multihull sailing and motor vessels, presented a preview of its new concept project: the 150 Sunreef Power. With this model, Sunreef Yachts is expanding its Catamaran Superyacht Motor Range upwards. The range previously consisted of the 90 Sunreef Power, presented in 2013, and the 115 Sunreef Power, presented in 2014 and covered in issue 35 of Yacht Première. The design of the range’s new flagship, in terms of size, is based on and is the latest evolution of the innovative concept for these two interesting earlier projects. The 150 Sunreef Power concept project was developed as a conceptual response to growing demand from a global clientele for longer motor yachts with greater volume. It is a trend that Sunreef Yachts had already anticipated and prepared for with the market launch of a revolutionary product range, the Catamaran Superyacht Motor Range. At the top of the range, the 150 Sunreef Power concept project was specifically devised to meet all the requirements of owners who prefer multihull vessels to single-hull vessels – that is to say those who base their choices on the acknowledged strengths of the catamaran: maximum stability in navigation, reduced draught and lower fuel consumption, not to mention a greater beam, which allows for more space on board and a very high level of comfort. For the completion of a custom hull of the new 150 Sunreef Power concept project, the schedule of works calls for only two years in total. The new concept, which can be built entirely at the shipyard’s modern, cutting edge production facility, is intended for construction in advanced composite. The vessel as a whole is based on naval architecture and engineering developed entirely in-house by the Polish shipyard’s technical team, and the yacht’s exterior design was similarly devised in full by the Sunreef Yachts in-house aesthetic team. Showing considerable professional perceptiveness, the designers created a modern, contemporary style thanks to which the ship’s mass – which is substantial given the sizeable dimensions involved – looks sleek and dynamic rather than heavy and static. The sporty aspect and the powerful look blend harmoniously in a balanced, composed manner, thanks to an expressive interplay of curved surfaces that describe solid forms in alternation with the empty spaces of the large windows. While the Polish shipyard has now unveiled the exteriors of the new 150 Sunreef Power concept project, the interiors remain under wraps, but they will undoubtedly be a flawless match for the exteriors. The inspiration for the interior design could very probably be an urban loft, or perhaps a seaside villa, with interiors featuring furniture and decoration solutions with an elegant, luxurious character or a simple, minimalist look. In any case, whatever solution is chosen by the owner, Sunreef Yachts’ technical experts will be able to meet their individual needs and wishes flawlessly and fully. At present, with regard to the layout of the new 150 Sunreef Power concept project, the plans for the four decks have not yet been published. The shipyard has however revealed that the standard layout will offer comfortable private accommodation for 12 passengers in five guest staterooms and one master stateroom, as well as comfortable accommodation for eight crew in three crew cabins and one captain’s cabin. In all likelihood the standard basic configuration that would be prepared by the Polish shipyard to present the yacht to an interested client could be summarised very briefly as follows: a sunbathing area with a swimming pool and sun pads on the flybridge; the Owner’s suite and wheelhouse on the upper deck; a lounge area and a dining area on the main deck, as well as bar and relaxation areas; with the guest staterooms, the crew quarters, the gym area, the galley area, the storage area and the engine rooms on the lower decks. In any event, however, the new 150 Sunreef Power concept project offers generous space and therefore maximum versatility in the numerous possible alternatives for the interior layout. The main idea underlying the design concept for the vessel is to optimise and therefore maximise the extent of the habitable space, both inside and outside. Careful study undertaken rationally and based on functional criteria to ensure that the available space was intelligently used has made it possible to achieve a genuinely outstanding result with a total useable surface area of 980 m2, equivalent to 10,550 square feet.
In more detail, the flybridge has an area of 95 m2, equivalent to 1,020 square feet, while inside, the main deck and the upper deck have a total area of 320 m2, equivalent to 3,450 square feet, and outside, the main deck and the upper deck have a total area of 220 m2, equivalent to 2,370 square feet. The two lower decks have a total area of 260 m2, equivalent to 2,800 square feet, and the garage has an area of more than 60 m2, equivalent to 650 square feet, while the foldable swimming platform has an area of 25 m2, equivalent to 270 square feet.
