In June last year, Mondo Marine launched Alexander Again, the 60th luxury motor yacht to bear the prestigious mark of the exclusive Italian shipyard. After the yacht was delivered to its Owner in July, Alexander Again completed its summer maiden voyage and was then officially presented at the 21st Monaco Yacht Show in September.
For Mondo Marine, the new Alexander Again is really something to boast about and a reason for company pride: this motor yacht is the second consecutive vessel commissioned from the Italian shipyard by the same Owner, who thus confirmed for a second time how much Mondo Marine’s construction skills are appreciated and valued. Mondo Marine is a shipyard highly specialised in designing, engineering and building its vessels completely in house, using steel and aluminium to create 40-metre-plus superyachts.
However, most importantly, they are created on a fully custom basis, because each Mondo Marine boat is a unique piece, not something that can be replicated.
“From a drawing on a piece of paper to the finished vessel,” say the founders of the famous shipyard, brothers Ferruccio and Elio Stroppiana, who describe Mondo Marine’s underlying philosophy as follows: “Emotions are the source of Mondo Marine’s designs. The result of our work is always modelled on the Owner’s real needs, and we find the best way to make the Owner’s dreams take shape.”
The Stroppiana brothers are not in any doubt: “Creating the interiors of a yacht is like dressing a body, or rather the body of the yacht’s Owner.” As was the case with all the other more recent yachts launched by the Italian shipyard, this latest 50-metre yacht was also designed in house by Mondo Marine Engineering, which was fully responsible for its structural, hydrodynamic and technical aspects.
Fully built in light aluminium alloy for both the hull and the superstructure, the new superyacht Alexander Again has a semi-displacement hull, a length of 49.15 metres and a beam of 9.00 metres. Two V12 4000 M90 engines by the German firm MTU have been installed in its engine room, each with maximum power of 2,735 HP supplied at 2,100 rpm. These engines allow Alexander Again to reach a top speed of above 20 knots and maintain a fast cruising speed of 18.5 knots.
Meanwhile, at the economy cruising speed of 12 knots, the yacht has a range equivalent to 3,500 nautical miles. The build has obtained official ABS certification, class A1 Commercial Yachting Service and AMS. Moreover, as usual for all Mondo Marine’s ships, the famous Italian shipyard has worked meticulously to ensure complete safety and offer a high level of comfort on board, even during difficult environmental conditions and at maximum performance levels.
Alexander Again’s external forms are modern and contemporary, characterised by soft, sleek lines by Giorgio Vafiadis & Associates. The arrangement of the external spaces, meanwhile, was assigned to Luca Dini Design, which devised very well equipped, comfortable outdoor areas, with the outdoor furniture designed and finished with the same care and expertise as the indoor furniture.
