M60 Sea Falcon

by Mondomarine with Luiz De Basto Designs

Over the next 24 months, Mondomarine has several launches of high-profile motor yachts on its calendar. This year, both the M50, with a length of 50 metres / 164 feet, designed by Hot Lab Design, and the M60 S, with a length of 60 metres / 196 feet, designed by Luca Dini Design, will take to the water, while next year will see the launch and delivery of the M40 Explorer, 40 metres / 132 feet in length, designed by HydroTec, and the M54, 54 metres / 178 feet in length, designed by Luca Dini Design. All these creations have been developed in association with famous Italian professionals but as always, Mondomarine also continues to work with renowned international specialists as it has done in the past. This is certainly the case for the new project presented by Mondomarine last year during the Monaco Yacht Show, namely the M60 Sea Falcon, designed by Luiz De Basto. This innovative project, entirely based on naval architecture developed in-house by the expert technical team of Mondomarine Engineering, is a super yacht with a length of over 60 metres, or nearly 198 feet. It has an all-metal build using light aluminium alloy for both the hull and the superstructure, allowing for a reduction in the overall weight and an increase in navigation performance, which is very impressive partly thanks to the high-efficiency keel specially designed and developed by Mondomarine’s engineers. The power supplied by the engines also obviously plays its part and the shipyard therefore took the opportunity to offer its clientele various options to choose from for the configuration of the propulsion system. With an estimated overall design gross tonnage of around 900 GT, the top speed of the M60 Sea Falcon varies depending on the engine configuration option chosen, from 20 knots in the standard configuration to 26 knots for the high performance configuration. In more detail, with the basic or standard configuration, the vessel will have a cruising speed of 18 knots, while at the economy cruising speed of 12 knots it will certainly have a range in excess of 4,000 nautical miles. All the advanced technologies on board and the numerous cutting-edge technical characteristics have been carefully developed and optimised to ensure maximum safety and complete comfort in all weather and sea conditions. However, this new project by Mondomarine and Luiz De Basto is not just a distillation of the highest quality in engineering. It is also a flawless example of profound aesthetic innovation with a modern stylistic look, presented on the constantly evolving world market to target a varied, increasingly international clientele. As a result, the new M60 Sea Falcon project conceptually represents a contemporary interpretation of the upcoming next generation of sport super yachts. The design uses dynamic expression based on the choreographic suggestion of movement and spectacularly enthralling elegance. The substantial interior spaces of the super yacht justify the vessel’s sizeable total mass, while thanks to the skill of the designer, flawlessly demonstrated in the moulding and sculpting of its large outline, the M60 Sea Falcon has an extremely sleek, unassailably sporty look. It’s an utterly dazzling and most importantly genuinely unusual end result, compared to the other proposals available on the current expanded world market, for a vessel which has such undeniably sizeable dimensions and which is even laid out over four decks for owner and guest use: the sun deck, upper deck, main deck and lower deck. The panoramic sun deck, partially covered by a large hard top, is intended to have several functional areas such as a sunbathing area with sun pads and a swimming pool, and a lounge area with chairs and a bar. Outside on the upper deck, there is a relaxation area with chairs and a coffee table, while inside, the sky lounge has a dining area that can be opened out and transformed into an al fresco dining area and an area laid out as a cinema room that can be fitted out with sofas and armchairs. The upper deck also features a service pantry and the wheelhouse with a pilot’s chair and instrument panel, as well as the captain’s cabin with its own en suite bathroom. Outside on the main deck, there is a relaxation area that can be laid out with chairs and a coffee table, while inside, the salon has an entrance area with a bar, followed by a living area with a sofa and coffee table, then a dining area with a large table and chairs, which is in turn adjacent to the pantry and galley. The main deck also has a private space comprising the owner’s suite with a private study/office, the master stateroom and two dressing rooms, as well as the bathroom with a bathtub and shower.

The lower deck, meanwhile, has another private space, in this case housing the guest accommodation, which consists of two VIP staterooms and three guest staterooms, each with a private bathroom. The lower deck also features the crew quarters with a crew galley, crew mess and five crew cabins, each with its own bathroom. The super yacht will have two separate garages: an aft garage on the lower deck for housing the pair of main tenders, and a forward garage on the main deck for the service tender and jet skis or waverunners. Among the various highlights of the M60 Sea Falcon project, the mechanised openings play a major role: when the yacht is at anchor in the roads or offshore, as well as the openable platform of the transom which allows the beach club to face directly onto the surface of the water, in the sides of the yacht two sections of the walls corresponding to the main salon fold out to form two balconies completely overhanging the sea, thus expanding the perception of space inside as well as obtaining a direct physical and visual connection with the surrounding scenery.
