Perini 47 M

by Perini Navi

Italian shipyard Perini Navi, recognised as an undisputed world leader in the design and construction of sailing super yachts, recently presented the new design for a vessel with a length overall of 46.5 metres, equivalent to 152 feet 6 inches. The design for the new Perini 47 Metres, was devised and developed entirely in-house by the Perini Navi technical team and design department, who handled the concept, layout, naval architecture, marine engineering, exterior design and interior design. As always at Perini Navi, aesthetic elegance and cutting-edge technical innovation alongside benchmark performance for the sector are once again the cornerstones for this new design for a sailing yacht with a hull and superstructure to be built entirely in light aluminium alloy. The new Perini 47 Metres is designed with sloop rigging and will be equipped with a light aluminium alloy mast and a boom in carbon fibre composite. These will support an imposing, powerful sail plan with a total area of 2,315 m2, or 24,918 square feet, controlled by captive reel winches and furling systems engineered and patented by Perini Navi. The submerged section of the vessel also has some particularly innovative and highly advantageous design characteristics. The yacht notably features a fly by wire system with twin blade rudders, again engineered and patented by the Italian shipyard, providing sensational sensitivity at the controls for outstanding manoeuvrability. In addition, the hull has a deep keel with a variable draught ranging from 3.9 metres, or nearly 13 feet, in a raised position to 9.5 metres, or over 31 feet, in a lowered position. Raising or lowering it to fit the sea and navigation conditions allows the yacht to enter shallow waters or to sail upwind at tighter angles. All of this contributes to raising the quality of the sailing experience to the very highest level, and on the Perini 47 Metres this has been further heightened thanks to the experience acquired at sea with previous vessels built by Perini Navi and the advanced technologies all created and developed in-house by the Italian shipyard. The quality of life on board the Perini 47 Metres during a cruise is also underpinned by an intelligently, practically designed layout that offers a spectacularly generous amount of space both inside and out. The external areas, for example, occupy a total of 142 m2, or 1,529 square feet, while the total usable area on the main deck, with covered and open-air spaces combined, comes to over 200 m2, or over 2,150 square feet. The layout of the Perini 47 Metres is designed to enhance comfort and facilitate privacy, and accommodates up to eight passengers in one owner’s suite and three guest staterooms, as well as up to eight crew in one captain’s cabin and three crew cabins. The twin external helm stations are located forward on the flybridge deck, while amidships there is a relaxation area with a coffee table and chairs, and a panoramic sunbathing area with sun pads has been laid out to aft. Outside on the main deck, the fore deck can be used as a relaxation area, shaded if desired, or as a sunbathing area and it can be laid out with chairs and sun beds, while the aft deck is subdivided into a covered section laid out as an alfresco dining area and an uncovered section that can be laid out as a sunbathing area with sun beds. Similarly, when lowered, the transom platform has been designed as a beach club that can be fitted out with sun pads. Inside on the main deck, the salon features a living area with small tables and sofas and a dining area with a table and chairs. Next to it and forward, meanwhile, is the main internal helm station. The private accommodation featuring the guest staterooms and the owner’s suite is positioned on the lower deck to aft. The full-beam owner’s suite includes a private study and twin bathrooms. The crew quarters are located forward, including the captain’s cabin, crew cabins, galley, crew dinette and laundry. The Perini 47 Metres is designed to carry a 5.5-metre main tender stored below the fore deck and a 3.4-metre service tender stored below the transom platform.
