Pershing 108’

Previewed two years ago in issue 13 of Yacht Première, the Pershing 108’ is finally a magnificent reality. This vessel is the first hull in the latest new line by Pershing, one of the eight exclusive brands in the Ferretti Group, led by founder and president Norberto Ferretti.

The words of Norberto Ferretti himself are the best way to convey the depths of feeling called forth by the first Pershing three-engine model: “The creation of this prestigious new model makes me proud of the teamwork that took place between highly specialised personnel who worked intensively and with real passion. The team, consisting of the Group’s AYT and the Ferretti Group Centro Stile, with the vital contribution of Fulvio De Simoni, thanks to whom Pershing maintains its distinctive style and cutting-edge look, studied everything down to the tiniest details, continuously comparing and updating the latest technologies in the sector.”

This strength of feeling rightly affected everyone involved in the production of the yacht, as Pershing Brand Manager Nada Serafini emphasises: “We are proud to present the first hull of the keenly anticipated Pershing 108’ and we are convinced that this product will become one of the leading models in the range, thanks to its innovative engineering and highly personalised interior design.” Due to its highly innovative design and remarkable performance, the new Pershing 108’ stands to take a pre-eminent position among the top-ranked sports yachts on the world stage. This testifies to the continuous growth of the Pershing brand in terms of research and development, in its bid to transform materials, living solutions and technologies to create something new and truly unique. As a result, a decidedly unusual – and extremely versatile – new motor yacht has been designed and created, with the advanced technology and innovative layout that make it a truly cutting-edge vessel. The basis for the new Pershing 108’ is a contemporary concept of personalisation, which is immediately apparent in the highly individual appearance of the exterior design. The aggressive lines of the hull and the sinuous lines of the superstructure, with large windows in the walls and at the sides, offer a new, modern interpretation of the characteristic lines that give the yachts in the Pershing fleet their unique, recognisable look. In this latest model, new elements have been added to the usual family feel of the brand thanks to the introduction of some significant innovations such as the white pearl livery, which will be extended to all the other models in the renewed fleet from the Pershing 108’ onwards. This elegant colour scheme allows the new Pershing 108’ to emphasise the developing philosophy of the brand, which has always united aesthetics and engineering in each of its creations.

The new Pershing 108’ is no exception to the rule, as a beautiful, high-performance vessel. For the very first time in the history of the shipyard, a Pershing vessel has been equipped with three engines, coupled to six-blade surface-piercing propellers.

The aim is to ensure high performance in all conditions of use, without overlooking environmental impact and the related issue of limiting energy consumption.

In the version adopted for the first Pershing 108’, three MTU V16 2000 series M94 L rating engines have been installed, each pumping out 2,638 HP, giving the yacht a top speed above 42 knots. In minimal loading conditions, the vessel can glide with only two engines (a very useful function if there is a temporary breakdown of one of the engines), and still achieve considerable speeds.

Confirming the versatility of this propulsion system, the new vessel has a low-speed range of more than 1,000 nautical miles at 10 knots, using only the central engine, with reduced energy consumption and lower emissions as a result. Another advantage of slow journeys using only one engine is a reduction of engine noise that further increases the comfort level. Acoustic tests have been performed on board with low decibel measurements, confirming the Pershing 108’ as a genuine benchmark vessel in this category. In addition to the excellent level of acoustic comfort, the new Pershing offers extraordinary comfort on board in terms of atmosphere thanks to the functional character of the interior design and the versatility of the layout – additional strong points that accompany the aesthetic beauty of its luxurious interiors. And this is no accident: as always, the new Pershing 108’ is the result of the tried and tested collaboration between Ferretti Group Advanced Yacht Technology and the team of architects of the Ferretti Group Centro Stile, working with yacht designer Fulvio De Simoni. “The architecture, spaces and design, from bow to stern, confirm the great care taken with the project to make this model a reference point in the nautical world,” says Fulvio De Simoni confidently.  [...]
