Last year saw Oceanco reveal a preview of one of its new projects at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show with the unveiling of a spectacular scale model. The famous Dutch shipyard and well-established Italian designers Nauta Yachts formally presented the new Project Spectrum, code DP 114, to the public and the specialist press. With a length of 102 metres, or 334 feet, this brand new project was devised and developed in close collaboration to offer a yacht with the utmost flexibility in terms of both the propulsion system and the arrangement of living spaces. Project Spectrum’s hull offers low hydrodynamic resistance and therefore high efficiency, optimised through extensive research and careful tank tests. Oceanco offers the option of an advanced hybrid propulsion system with diesel engines coupled to electric motors, allowing the vessel to use different methods of running. In terms of layout, Project Spectrum has five decks which can all be freely configured as desired, and can all be reached via a convenient central lift. The design reserves the upper deck entirely for the owner’s private use, with a suite featuring a large double room and a lounge with a panoramic view forward, directly connected to a deck for the owner’s exclusive use which includes a touch-and-go helipad. Two extremely spacious VIP suites are located on the main deck, each with a private balcony, while the lower deck houses four comfortable guest staterooms.
The social spaces include a panoramic exterior lounge and a sunbathing area with a swimming pool on the bridge deck. These are joined by a salon and a dining room on the main deck, together with an external beach area with a sunbathing area and a pool. In addition, the lower deck is also home to the beach club space, which features a lounge bar directly facing the sea with folding platforms overhanging the water, while the wellness area and the fitness area featuring a spa and a gym also have similar folding platforms overhanging the water. All of these openable platforms along the sides of the motor yacht can also provide an excellent base for water sports, as well as offering ideal mooring for tenders, with the result that the owner and guests can arrive on board with the maximum convenience. On looking at any part of this motor yacht or analysing any of its components, there is no mistaking the fact that Project Spectrum is a concept specially designed to create a close emotional connection between the natural marine environment and the spaces on board the yacht. The large platforms, extensive balconies and generous full-height glass walls that are almost all fully openable mean that the exterior and interior spaces flow freely into each other with no interruption. Together with the captivating panoramic views that they provide, these large windows also let in an exceptional flood of natural light, and this is one of the most important and unexpected distinctive elements of the warm, welcoming atmosphere on board Project Spectrum. The huge aesthetic impact of this motor yacht from the very first glance will certainly be of equal importance. Contemporary shapes draw inspiration from a cultivated, skilled reinterpretation of classic stylistic elements, outlined decisively with simple, clean lines that enhance the imposing power of the hull and emphasise the sleek dynamism of the superstructure.
